Logan and Brianna opted to do a First Look Session, which means, that before the wedding day we meet and do a portrait session where the groom doesn't see the bride until she shows up and we capture his expression as he sees his bride for the first time. I highly recommend doing the First Look for all weddings if possible!

Salt Lake Valley Corporate Studio Portraits: Jason https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2014/8/salt-lake-valley-corporate-studio At least a month ago, I set up my studio lights and backdrop in my apartment, and did some corporate portraits. This was a lot of fun, and I hope to do a few more in the future. You know what the best part about this whole shoot that took all of 20ish minutes to do? He wore shorts and I think it was sneakers, so he was totally comfortable! Loved it!

Salt Lake Senior Photographer: Abby https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2014/5/salt-lake-senior-photographer-abby I've been looking around for a new lens and have been doing research on which one I wanted to purchase, so I was able to convince this lovely high school Senior to be my model. She is gorgeous!!! You were fantastic! Thank you Abby!

Salt Lake City Engagment Photographer: Logan and Brianna https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2014/5/salt-lake-city-engagment-photographer I had so much fun with this beautiful couple during their engagement portrait session. We went to a pretty little church with some awesome landscaping and structures. Logan is a big sports fan, so by the end of their engagement session, I now have a new name from him, Coach. I like it, and might use it more often...

Salt Lake City, UT Photographer: My Family https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2014/3/salt-lake-city-ut-photographer-my-family So this is one of my favorite posts, and here's why. I get to share with you my pride and joy: my family. These guys mean the world to me and I would give anything to keep them happy. I hope you enjoy these portraits that depict the handsome guys in my life. And a picture or two of me.

This is Thing 1. He is my ideal little model and very comfortable in front of the camera. He sets himself up and I rarely have to make adjustments. He's in kindergarten and absolutely loves it!

This is Thing 2. He's very different from his big brother. He loves to be in front of the camera, but be silly and peek a boo or run. He's a busy body that I can't get to sit still unless he's asleep. He has great endurance, but when he gets tired, stay out of his way or put him to bed. You'll be glad you did either! Love this early bird!

This is when he decided to play peek a boo with me and his vest, I love his smile, because when he smiles, his eyes sparkle.

This is my handsome husband. I couldn't ask for any better, because if I did I wouldn't get anything.

Yours truly.

Family Photographer: Jack and Lauri's family https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2014/2/family-photographer-jack-and-lauris It was a chilly day when we took these family portraits, but still lots of fun. I love Thanksgiving, it's not the holiday to me. It's a great way to be reminded of the things that we have been blessed to have in our lives in the past, present and the future.

Lund, NV: Nicole's Family Photographer https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2014/1/lund-nv-nicoles-family-photographer My parents have moved to a very small (and semi-remote) location in Nevada within the last year. Because of my frequent trips, I've had the opportunity to get to know some families there and take their portraits. It's a beautiful valley and the town has character that photographers love.

It was a little chilly when we did these portraits, but still nice as far as early November weather goes. Nicole has two awesome kids, and we had a blast taking pictures. Thankfully they didn't think that I was boring so that was a bonus for me ;)

What gorgeous ladies in the house. Nicole's daughter is 5' 9" and 14 years old if I remember right, but all that I remember is that I had to look up to talk to her and I'm 5' 7"!

If this image isn't evidence of some of the fun we had, then I don't know what is.

I think that I may have fallen in love with the sunsets in Lund. Not only are they beautiful, but the light from them has wonderful effects on my portrait sessions.

Nicole is not only beautiful on the outside, but on the inside as well. She is so kind and fun loving.

Now being a guy, he tries not to smile, but have the time he ended up laughing when we were taking his portraits.

And this lovely lady decided to have us go through where all the branches and twigs were to get to the spot she wanted the most. I didn't end up with scratches, but she got a pretty big one by the end of her portraits.

 See? Fun!

One of my favorite images from the evening. Lovey lighting, background, and of course lovely family.

I can't say much about this image because it definitely explains itself.

Love it!!!

Thanks Nicole and kids for having me take your family portraits, there was never a dull moment.

Salt Lake City, UT: Todd and Brittany's Family Photographer https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2014/1/salt-lake-city-ut-todd-and-brittanys I hope your holidays were safe and enjoyed. I know I enjoyed them once I was able to settle down from all of our family trips. So now I'm excitedly back to posting all of those beautiful families portraits I took in the fall of last and pretty close to winter of last year. We're going to start with this family.

I met this family not long after I moved to Utah, and think very highly of the sweet Brittany who I had the opportunity to work with in a Church calling. She and Todd are wonderful people, and I feel fortunate to call them friends. Brittany had decided she wanted fall colors, and I knew of an awesome location just at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon, called the Temple Quarry.

So we started with their oldest, who might I add was quite the ham and very comfortable in front of the camera.  I loved his spontaneity!

 He was quite the model.

And the goofball when he wanted to be.

I love this image of these two brothers. You could definitely tell how fond of each other they are.

And here's that fall foliage I promised. I'm so in love with these colors, that I might have to take my family up there for our portraits next year.

And here are the two wonderful people responsible for those three sweet and beautiful children.

I don't blame you if you just want to reach through the screen and just kiss his cute little cheeks, I know I had a hard time not doing so.  He started to get a little fussy, so...

Mommy knew exactly what to do to keep him happy, laughing, and cooing.

I felt as though I needed to go into stealth mode with little miss, I had to hide to try and capture her portrait. Let me tell you, she would not have it. I think that because I have boys, I'm much better with them, hopefully that will change.

Thanks for letting me take your family's portraits Brittany and Todd! I loved every minute of it!

Idaho Falls, ID Family Photographer: John and Krista's Family https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2013/11/idaho-falls-id-family-photographer-john This family is one of my favorites, and here's why, not only were our kids good friends before we moved, but I knew them really well. We always have a blast during their portrait sessions, and this time wasn't any different. Here's your proof.

The beautiful ladies of the family. And they just keep getting more lovely.

And of course, we can't forget the handsome men of the home! You're never too big to sit (or lean) on Dad's knee.

I love this image of John and Krista. They don't show any personal displays of affection that I've really ever seen in all the time I've known them, but you can definitely tell they love one another.

And they have beautiful children!

This handsome little man, can be so bashful, but once you get him warmed up, he's hard to stop!

And this sweet and adorable young lady. I remember the first time I took her portraits she had a scratch on her face. She was so upset and worried about the scratch that she was almost near tears. I sat down with her and explained that the scratch would not be in her portraits, that I would remove it, and she cheered right up. We've had fun with her portraits ever since...

...can you tell?

Now, here's the teenager of the bunch. I don't know a whole lot about teenage girls, but this is one thing that I do know for sure. If they've done their hair and are wearing an outfit they like, then they love having their portraits taken.

I tried a different technique this time and I really like the result!

Love the lighting and the model!!

Here's another thing I know about teenage girls, they love picking their backdrop and pose. I just make minor tweaks to things and call it good!

Love you guys! Thanks for giving me another opportunity to do your family portraits! You're a wonderful family!

South Jordan, UT Child Photographer: Miss K https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2013/11/south-jordan-ut-child-photographer-miss I'm so behind in posting and I have so many great galleries to share with all of you! Up first of the recent portraits I've taken is Miss K. She wore her a special dress she would also be wearing for her upcoming baptism. Congratulations Miss K!!

What a beautiful girl I was fortunate to take portraits of!

One of her favorite colors is pink, so she was able to choose where she wanted some of her portraits to be taken. Miss K really liked the pink dahlias.

Thanks for being such a great model Miss K! I hope your baptism was very special.

Wheeler Farm, Salt Lake City, UT: Abby's a Senior! https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2013/9/wheeler-farm-salt-lake-city-ut-abbys Here's that post I promised of Abby. Yes, she gets her own because she's a Senior in High School this year! And what a beautiful Senior she is!

I loved Abby's expression in these images so much that I did one in B&W and the other in color.

This is my other favorite! Maybe it's because her brother-in-law was pulling faces and saying some pretty funny stuff on my side of the lens....

Best of luck with your Senior year Abby! I know you'll make it awesome!

Wheeler Farm, Salt Lake City, UT: Daron and Jennifer's Family Photographer https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2013/9/wheeler-farm-salt-lake-city-ut-daron These portraits have been a long time coming. With our recent move and all the craziness happening, I just haven't sat down to blog them. So, here they are Daron and Jennifer's family!
They were going to be encountering some big life changes shortly and wanted to get their family portrait done before everything happened. I think we had a blast!

All of the lovely ladies.

Would it ever be a family portrait session without that funny photo?

Dad with his two boys and I don't remember what was being said at this point, but I do know what Daron was in the middle of saying, "NO!"

The guys and family outlaws. :)

What beautiful children are in this family!

And they're all here thanks to this beautiful couple, Daron and Jennifer! They are very kind and loving.

Okay! And her! This is Grandma, without her too there wouldn't be Mom.

This is Deven and Ashley and their little girl. As hard as I tried to get Princess to smile, it was of no use!

It was nice to get a shot of Deven and Ashley as a couple. So Princess kept trying to sneak in but had told me earlier, "No more pictures!" I find that pretty ironic!

I love this shot of Princess, she is very much herself, still demanding, "No more pictures!"

And this is what I get. Even after I paid to her to take her portrait! Well... sort of. Her bribe was that she would get coins if she was good for the portrait session, but it wasn't working, so I pulled out the few coins I had with me and tried to offer them to her as a peace offering, well, as you can see from her expression below, it didn't work very well.

Audrey was quite comfortable in front of the camera. We took several different poses of her around Wheeler Farm.

This was one of my favorites of Audrey.

This is Nolan and Emily. When we took these family portraits, they hadn't even been married for a month. So of course, I expected to know how to pose. I'm so glad I did, because I didn't have to hardly do anything with them!

You remember Aaron! He's currently on his mission in the West Indies Mission. He couldn't take bad portrait even if he tried!

I skipped over one of the girls for this post, but that's because she's Senior in High School this year, and she gets her own special post. Come back in the next few days and you won't be disappointed!
I promise!

Jonathon is the youngest of the family, and just turned 16. Not such a baby in these pictures though.

He's got such an awesome smile!

Wheeler Farm, Salt Lake City, UT: B Children Photographer https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2013/8/wheeler-farm-salt-lake-city-ut-b Alright, here are those adorable children's portraits I promised last week. We'll start with the oldest's portraits.

Here is a beautiful young woman, who is just as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside. She loves her siblings and dotes on that baby sister of hers all the time.

Here's Brother! I was so close to cracking his smile in these two portraits, but he stifled them before he it appear! That's okay, I'll crack it one of these times!

Now this little lady isn't afraid to be herself! I love that you can totally see her personality, just through her posing!

This little girl can be quite goofy with her older sister and have just as much fun, but when you take her away from her older sister she becomes much quieter and very mild.

Little Sister is a lot like her older brother, difficult to get to smile. I still got some awesome shots of her!

And we'll end with this adorable little baby girl! She was so happy!

I'll be you can't guess who she's smiling at?

Wheeler Farm, Salt Lake City, UT: B Family Photographer https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2013/8/wheeler-farm-salt-lake-city-ut-b-family I had a lot of fun taking portraits of this family. I'm just going to do the group shots this week because the individual portraits of the kids are just too adorable. There are so many to choose from that I don't know if I'll be able to limit them to a small amount. So they'll have to wait!

I LOVE these candid shots, where everybody loses it to laughing and doesn't bother looking at the camera. It's usually where you can really see what family dynamic can be.

Of course we had to do a silly one! It just wouldn't be this family without one silly one. I love how baby E is totally chill and even happy while her Daddy turned her sideways.

All those girls are just so happy, and then there is brother...I was only to crack his smile a few times. He's a very "serious" young man. ;)

Hey look! There's almost a smile on brother's face! I knew he couldn't resist!

And here are the wonderful people responsible for this beautiful family. Two people I am very fond of and they always make me smile!

Newborn Idaho Falls, ID: Lil' A https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2013/7/newborn-idaho-falls-id-lil-a Let me introduce Lil' A. He's now a part of the R Family He's a cutie!  This was my first time doing a newborn shoot. I have a lot to learn, but for my first newborn session, I'm pleased with my results.

To me he's saying "Where do you think you're going? You can't leave!"

I love this image of him!

What's up man!

We were more than happy to include Mommy in this session.

As well as big brother. Who of course doted on both his Mommy and baby brother.

He tried to share his cars he even tried to give Lil' A his pacifier and was ever so gentle about it.

I loved being able to Mommy just being herself with Lil' A. Being a mother to a newborn isn't a picnic in the park, it's a lot of work and I think this image best portrays that.

But we can't forget the joy that those little ones bring to us.

These last four images are my favorites because to me they speak volumes about not only motherhood, but also about this mommy.

Love you and your family Lil' A!

Herriman, UT: Young Women https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2013/5/herriman-ut-young-women I serve in the Young Women organization in the church that I attend and belong to. The Young Women include girls from the ages of 12 to 18. I love my position. The Young Women in the ward that I attend decided that they wanted to do a photography night, where we were able to discuss a little bit about lighting; as part of the photography night, I would also that take their portraits. They are all very beautiful young women and we had a lot of fun doing so. We were even able to take some portraits of the leaders and the girls posed them. Here are two of the Young Women I was able to take portraits of that night. Don't worry, there's more coming in the next post or two.

It's amazing what you can find around a road, and I love the background for the entire shoot!

She is so sweet, but you can see from her portrait above she can be sassy too!

More to come soon!

South Jordan, UT: Aaron's Mission and Senior Portraits https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2013/4/south-jordan-ut-aarons-mission-and I had the opportunity to take this handsome young man's portraits in a few different places. I'm slowly learning of good places to take portraits in this area, but I will hopefully find more as the weather warms and I go out and about.

Aaron is leaving for his mission to the West Indies July 10, 2013 where he will speak French. I don't know if there is a lot of variation in French, but his Dad spoke French on his mission as well. Pretty cool huh?

The Oquirrh Mountain Temple is his home temple so it was pretty appropriate to start there for his mission pictures.

What a handsome young missionary!

If I remember right, this is the Trinidad flag where the West Indies Mission office is located.

These are seven of the ten flags representing the multiple islands Aaron will be serving in.

I love this picture of him, it was so much fun to make Aaron smile. Not only fun, but easy!

He wants to end up as a medical student at the U (University of Utah) as a Medical student. He currently is doing his externship for his medical assisting. Pretty impressive for a Senior in high school.

Aaron has some of the most handsome blue eyes I've ever seen and this wall behind him, makes them pop out even more!

Thanks Aaron for letting me take your Mission and Senior Portraits. I wish you luck on your mission and hope that you are able to serve the Lord and those he needs you to serve faithfully and diligently.

Brighton, UT: Thing 1 Ski Photo Shoot https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2013/4/brighton-ut-thing-1-ski-photo-shoot The ski resorts are still open here in Utah, something that someone from Idaho isn't used to. As part of our last night on the mountain I did a quick photo shoot of Thing 1. Daddy wasn't able to come with us because he had to study for an exam/certification. Unfortunately we are done for the season and will hopefully will be up skiing more often next season. I hope that we will someday have our family picture done while we're skiing. Could you imagine a Senior Photo shoot in the mountains with their snowboard or skis? I can! Awesome!!!

My handsome little boy and model has done an awesome job for me. When it gets warmer and we are out and about more, I plan to restart my "Where I Live" series.

Check that out! I'm totally biased, but he's my awesome model mainly because his poses are natural and I don't have to coach him!

Being only 5 he's gotta be goofy once in a while!

Love this one! But it's also terrifying because he looks so much older!

This is my favorite shot of set!  One sharp little ski dude!

"Hurry up Mom! Ski time's a wastin'!"

He was taking his glasses off and looking at me, so I just couldn't resist the "How you doin'?" look.

I love the faces he makes!

And of course, I can't help posting this one! A true 5 year old, laughing at his Mom who has tripped over her ski boots and is laughing too.

Ririe, ID: L Family https://tashapoulsen.com/blog/2013/4/ririe-id-l-family One of the families I miss from Idaho. Why you ask? Well first off this is my sister's family. Second, they moved to South Dakota last June. Third, my first niece was born after they moved so this was the first time I got to meet her! Am I bitter, no! Not at all! Okay...maybe a little :)

It was freezing outside and the boys had just gotten up from their naps, so these were their best smiles outside.

After some Twizzlers they were much happier and willing to smile for their Mommy and Aunt!

My favorite picture from the whole shoot! These big brothers love their baby sister, and aren't afraid to show it. She loves being doted on by them too if you can't tell.

Love her chubby cheeks! She looks so much liker her redheaded big brother!

And of course the beautiful parents to those cute kids!

We love and miss you guys!
